Planning a wedding is a stressful experience. You have to make sure that all the guests behave, the food is served on time, wooden wedding flowers look fantastic, and the venue is neither too small or too spacious. On top of that, you have to give powerful wedding vows in front of everyone you love. If public speaking is not your forte, you might want to start writing your vows first thing after the proposal. Not to scare you, but there are a lot of ways to mess up your wedding vows. That is why you should learn from other people's stumbles and avoid some common mistakes that couples do when delivering wedding vows. Here are a few of them:

Too Much Information

There are some things that should be left unsaid, especially in front of your grandmother and wedding officiant. For example, wedding vows should not have all the spicy information about your intimate life. Instead of talking about physical pleasures, try to delve into the emotional connection with your partner.

Also, don't talk about any routine stuff when giving your wedding vows. It is a special day, so nobody wants to hear how your future partner works eight hours a day or doesn't wash their dishes. In fact, avoid mentioning any negative habits at all. It might sound funny when writing the vows, but believe us – these jokes don't work most of the time. And you don't want to take the risk. Instead, compliment your partner's taste for choosing the most beautiful sola wood wedding flowers or mention how your love grows each given day.

Never Hyperbolize

Don't hyperbolize! We all know that you love your partner, and it seems that you can do anything for them. That is fine. However, don't promise things that you cannot or do not intend to keep. Instead of promising to say "I love you" every single night, promise to try to be the most loving person even when you face struggles. After all, if you make false and unreal promises, most of your guests will feel that your wedding vows are fake and pretentious.

Adjust to Your Partner

Imagine if you would plan your wedding separately from your partner. The results would be atrocious. Half of the guests would come dressed up casually expecting a country themed wedding, while others would be dressed in tuxedos. You would decorate half of the venue with wonderful wooden wedding flowers while your partner would choose no decorations for the other half. That is why people normally organize their weddings together. That same principle applies to the wedding vows, as well. You don't want your partner to keep on talking forever if you only say a few words. Make sure to determine the approximate time limit and style of your wedding vows to avoid unnecessary contrast.

Avoid Improvising

Don't overcomplicate things for yourself. If you don't make money from public speaking, try not to improvise when giving your wedding vows. In most cases, improvisations lead to disaster and confusion. Of course, it might look amazing in movies, but in reality, you will be shaking and stressed enough to have a hard time reading from the paper.

Stay True to Yourself

You only get married once, so make sure to make it count. If it is possible, try to capture the beauty of the present moment, observe the smiles of your loving guests, admire beautiful wooden wedding bouquets, and let your partner know how much you love them. And do that in your own words. There are plenty of rules on how to write the perfect wedding vows, but the most important one is to speak from the bottom of your heart.
